WHAT WE DO
OUR SHED
Our Shed offers a safe, welcoming space for our members to:
work on personal and community projects
chat and share a cup of tea
join barbecues and social events
learn new skills through courses and presentations
gain health knowledge
meet new people and collaborate
By participating, members build friendships, gain skills, and use their experience.
Offers of help.
Because we are a voluntary not for profit organisation we welcome donations of equipment, materials, particularly native woods, and/or funds all of which must be recorded separately as required by law. Contact us at 027 434 3576 before donating, so we can coordinate drop-off or pickup.
MAY ROAD SCHOOL - HELPING THE COMMUNITY
May Road School had a significant range of cultures within its role, and the school wanted to be able to show how these cultures can journey to get to a place of learning.
Two members of our shed Chris Stuart and Don Hook took upon themselves to solve this. The Waka (canoe) demonstrates a means of transport, and the Whare (meeting house) is where the learning can take place.
The Waka and Whare were both designed and hand built by the Members of our shed and are both situated at the school with the Waka being placed at the entrance to the school, and the Whare as a place to gather and learn.
The 12 Paddles that were made, represent the beliefs of the school.
